Sarah Lantz

Location: Virginia Beach, VA

Teaches: Piano, Cello

Sarah Lantz grew up in the Philadelphia area, where she studied both piano and cello. She then went on to study both instruments at West Chester University in Pennsylvania and at the Hartt School of Music in Connecticut. She was an assistant in music history classes there, as well as recipient of a Dean's scholarship to study chamber music at Oxford University, UK. While at Oxford, Sarah had the honor of playing Bach to open a concert at Harris Manchester College.
Most of Sarah's studies at West Chester were with Dr. Carl Cranmer (DMA & Post-Doc studies, Juilliard). Having once suffered from tendinitis himself, he taught her from the Dorothy Taubman method, which includes exercises that help to prevent injury. Sarah is careful to adapt her teaching approach to each student, making sure they get the technique they need as well as the fun of learning to play a new instrument.
Sarah is fairly new to the Tidewater area, but hopes to meet new students soon. She sees teaching as both vocation and avocation; it is her job, and she loves it. She moved to the area with her husband to be closer to his family, but it was a blessing in disguise. She has met the wonderful people at Jordan Kitt's, and cannot wait to meet more local musicians and eager students!
